Jeff Mow, Glacier National Park Superintendent, is giving a talk at Flathead Valley Community College on Wednesday, April 19 . . .

In celebration of National Park Week, Glacier National Park Superintendent Jeff Mow will give a community presentation about challenges and opportunities the park sees in the future at the heart of the Crown of the Continent ecosystem.

The talk will take place at Flathead Valley Community College on Wednesday, April 19 at 6 p.m. in the Large Community Room, Arts and Technology Building, Room 139.

Mow will address management strategies including the importance of community and partner collaboration in the face of increasing park visitation, invasive species, funding, and climate change.

Glacier Park presentation: Climate Change An Organizational Perspective

The Crown of the Continent Research Learning Center at Glacier National Park is hosting a brown-bag luncheon presentation by Glacier National Park Superintendent Jeff Mow. The free presentation, “Responding to Climate Change: An Organizational Perspective,” is Wednesday, August 5, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the park’s community building in West Glacier.

National parks and protected areas throughout the world are being impacted by climate change through extreme weather events, warmer temperatures, rising sea levels, and ocean acidification. Mow said, “Underlying the challenge of how we respond to the new normal are an uncertainty associated with climate change. The organizational challenge for parks like Glacier is how to respond to climate change and build the organizational capacity to adapt to the wide range of conditions that we are experiencing.”

Mow has an extensive history working in northern latitudes and has been involved in climate change response for the National Park Service since 2006. He has been superintendent at Glacier National Park since August, 2013.

Park reiterates opposition to North Fork Road paving and concerns over rail shipments

Jeff Mow, Superintendent of Glacier National Park, reiterated the park’s opposition to North Fork Road paving and expressed a lot of concern over the safety of oil shipments along the park’s boundary . . .

Glacier National Park superintendent Jeff Mow said last week he is not in favor of paving the North Fork Road to the Camas Road, a project strongly supported by Columbia Falls city officials.

The goal of paving the North Fork Road has been debated for years, but now Columbia Falls business and civic leaders are pitching the idea not only to boost tourist traffic through town but as an emergency route for West Glacier in case of a rail disaster.

City leaders told Sen. Jon Tester on March 20 that the Park supports paving the North Fork Road, but Mow disagreed.

Jeff Mow takes over at Glacier Park

Glacier National Park’s new superintendent is settling into his new job . . .

Jeff Mow has taken the reins of one of America’s most iconic national parks. The 25-year veteran of the National Park Service officially became Glacier National Park’s 22nd Superintendent on Aug. 28.

Mow, 54, was selected as Glacier’s new chief in June. Before coming to Montana, he was superintendent at Kenai Fjords National Park, a 600,000-acre preserve along the Gulf of Alaska. Since arriving in late August, Mow said he has been meeting with staff and the park’s partners.

Jeff Mow, currently superintendent of Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska, takes over as the Glacier National Park superintendent August 25 . . .

A new superintendent — 25-year National Park Service veteran Jeff Mow — has been selected to lead Glacier National Park.

Mow is currently superintendent at Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska. He will begin his assignment in Glacier on Aug. 25…

Mow, who has been superintendent at Kenai Fjords since November 2004, is eager to return to Montana.

“My first visit to the park was in 1988 as a wildland firefighter on the Red Bench Fire near Polebridge,” he said. “Twenty-five years later, it is such an honor and privilege to return as superintendent and a newest member of Glacier’s outstanding management team. I can’t wait to join with the park staff and partners as we meet numerous challenges and opportunities facing the park in the next few years.”
