Visitor from Colorado drowns in North Fork

For those of you wondering about the radio traffic, a visiting Colorado man drowned in the North Fork just south of Camas Creek yesterday. North Valley Rescue supported the recovery efforts . . .

A 67-year-old man from Colorado who was visiting family in Whitefish drowned Tuesday while fishing in the North Fork Flathead River.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said the man was wearing waders and fishing with a relative near the river’s confluence with Camas Creek when the two got separated by a bend in the river. “The local guy went to look for the other guy who was just downstream and could not find him,” Curry said.

Man dies in boating accident on North Fork

(UPDATED) According to the Daily Inter Lake, an 80-year-old Kalispell man drowned yesterday afternoon when his one-person pontoon boat flipped over on the North Fork near the Glacier Rim access point. A second individual, who was accompanying the victim in another one-man boat that also capsized, was discovered safe on shore about a half-mile upstream.

‘Unlikely accident’ claims kayaker’s life on North Fork

The woman who drowned on the North Fork Flathead River on Wednesday afternoon has been identified as Shawna Thomas, 51, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Thomas and her husband were in a rigid-framed collapsible kayak when they came around a corner on the North Fork four miles south of Polebridge, encountering tree root balls as obstacles on both sides of the river channel.

Kayaker drowns in North Fork near Polebridge

A tragedy on the river yesterday, a couple miles south of Polebridge. The Daily Inter Lake has the story . . .

An Idaho woman drowned in the North Fork Flathead River on Wednesday afternoon after her inflatable kayak got tangled in tree roots.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said the woman and her husband were floating in a double-seated inflatable kayak about two miles south of Polebridge in the Home Ranch Bottoms area when the accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m.
