Grizzly bear relocated to North Fork

Montana FWP captured a nuisance grizzly bear near Meadow Lake Golf Course and relocated it to the upper Whale Creek drainage last Wednesday . . .

State wildlife officials caught a 4-year old male grizzly bear earlier this week near the Meadow Lake Golf Course near Columbia Falls.

Grizzly Bear Management Specialist Tim Manley said that the bear had been reported eating apples in residential areas over the past week.

Young grizzly captured north of Columbia Falls; released in Whale Creek area

From the Flathead Beacon . . .

Wildlife officials captured a young male grizzly bear Friday in a residential area north of Columbia Falls, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

The 4-year-old bear was caught in a trap set for a much larger grizzly that was getting into garbage in the area.

The young male was relocated Saturday in the Whale Creek area of the North Fork of the Flathead River drainage . . .

Columbia Falls man fined for poaching wolves in North Fork

This article from today’s Hungry Horse News offers a little more information about the October 9th wolf poaching incident near Whale Creek . . .

A Columbia Falls man has pleaded guilty to poaching two wolves near Whale Creek up the North Fork.

Randy Houk, whose age wasn’t released, paid fines totaling $1,135.

Fish, Wildlife and Parks is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information on the shooting death of a wolf found Oct. 25 in the Red Meadow drainage of the North Fork Flathead.
